Seakeeper Sales Continue Aggressive Growth
Gyro stabilization system manufacturer Seakeeper reported a 33% sales increase for 2013, contributing to its 53% average annual growth for each of the past 3 years. The company projects more than 40% growth for 2014 and is completing an 18,000 sq. ft. expansion of its engineering and manufacturing campus in Pennsylvania to meet anticipated demand.
Most of Seakeeper's 2013 increase came from the recreational segment, where refit projects skyrocketed worldwide and more yacht builders specified the gyro as standard or optional equipment. "Seakeeper is becoming a 'must have' for consumers," said company COO John Kermet.
Seakeeper's new Professional Division will build on momentum in commercial marine and military markets, where Kermet said sales are projected to triple. Gyros enhance owner/operator profitability by allowing more days on the water, safer working conditions, reduced crew fatigue, and less fuel consumption.
"In the future we believe there will be a gyro in every boat. To help realize this vision and further enhance our customer's onboard experience, we have many exciting product announcements scheduled throughout the year," said Kermet. Gyro stabilization was named one of the top boating innovations in the past 20 years in a recent Soundings Trade Only article.
Seakeeper will expand its Miami International Boat Show presence with a convention center booth and demo rides on a 43 Bertram at Sea Isle Marina. It will also exhibit at the Miami Yacht & Brokerage Show.
