Cooperation Secret Behind Ystad's Successful HVSC

The newly built HVSC in Port of Ystad, Sweden has rendered large interest in shipping cirkles the last couple of months. Last thursday over 70 participants from all Nordic countries and the Baltic states gathered at a special seminar featuring technical discussions and live inspecion the newly opened double frequency HVSC.

– Our solution with two independently operating frequencies for up to four ships at the same time is in the absolute forefront of developements and has dreated a stir in the insustry, says Mr Bjorn Bostrom, c.e.o. Of Port of Ystad. Of course we are happy for the attentionit has created in shipping and port circles, he concludes.

Along with inspecting the live HVSC being connected to Unity Lines MF "Skania", the seminar focused on explaining and sharing problem solving in a constructing process ranging fropm meeting the different demands of the individual ships to constructing in a port in 24-7 operation.

– The secret is, of course, cooperation, cooperation and even more cooperation, says Mr Ingemar Gustafsson of Processkontroll Elektriska AB, whos was in overall charge of the five company joint venture.

First in line to go operative on shor connection is Unitylines MS "Skania", followed shortly by MS "Wawel" of Polferries. The rest of the six ships daily calling on Port of Ystad will connect later this fall and early in 2014, contributing to a healthier enviroment both for crew and port staff, not to mention improving the air quality overall for the citizens of the municipality of Ystad.
