On November 19 at the residence of the Italian Ambassador to Japan Domenico Giorgi, Ken Kobayashi, President, Chief Executive Officer of the Mitsubishi Corporation was named Commander of the Order of the Star of Italy in the presence of d'Amico Group executives, who supported the candidacy of the Japanese giant.

The “Order of the Star of Italy” award, born after World War II for Italians abroad or foreigners who best assisted the reconstruction of the country, today wishes to recognize those who have acquired special merits in the promotion of friendly relations and cooperation with Italy.

The Japanese giant, active in many industrial sectors, has in fact over many years established a solid partnership with the Italian shipping company, for the transport not only to Italy but also around the world, of refined products using the vessels of the specialized company d’Amico International Shipping (DIS.MI), listed on the Milan stock exchange, and of metals and commodities with d’Amico Dry.

Mitsubishi Corporation and the d'Amico Group share a common vision for sustainable and environmentally aware business that is expressed in the use of latest generation eco-ships that are able to limit CO2 emissions by 20-25% and significantly reduce fuel consumption, and the use of load management processes based on the most complete safety.

The d'Amico Group has been present in Southeast Asia for fourteen years and in Japan stands out among the most active Italian companies in terms of business. Over the years it has managed 18 ships, some of them in joint ventures with Japanese multinationals; twelve for the transport of vegetable oils and refined petroleum products, and six destined for dry cargo such as raw materials, timber and metals.

The historical presence of the d'Amico Group in Japan and its proximity to the local community is also reflected every year in an event that attracts the representatives of company customers, business partners, brokers, investment banks and insurance companies, just as it did in 2011 through volunteer and charity work supporting the population, during the floods in Fukushima.
