U.S. and Canadian Coast Guard are working together to find a crewman missing from a Canadian freighter in Lake Ontario.

The crew of the 710-ft CANADIAN PROVIDER reported 57-year-old Gary Carlton missing around 1:30 p.m. Wednesday. He had last been seen early that morning around 4 a.m. when the ship was about 11 miles north of Rochester.

By the time he was reported missing the vessel was near Alexandria Bay on the St. Lawrence River.

The USCG reports that they’ve sent rescue crews onboard 47-foot Motor Life Boats from Stations Oswego, N.Y., and Rochester, N.Y. They’ve also sent a 25-foot Response Boat-Small from Station Alexandria Bay, N.Y., an HH-65 Dolphin rescue helicopter from Air Station Detroit, and an HU-25 Guardian fixed-wing aircraft from Air Station Cape Cod, Mass.

The Canadian Coast Guard has also sent rescue vessels and aircraft to the scene.
