Turkish Ship and Crew Hijacked by Somali Pirates

Turkish ship with 23 crew has been hijacked by Somali pirates.

The M/V HORIZON-1, transporting sulfate from Saudi Arabia to Jordan was surrounded by speed boats and then boarded. The vessel was hijacked with its crew of 23, and is now being followed by Turkey's frigate TCG GEDIZ.

The ship was taken in the Recommended Transit Corridor, which is being patrolled by the Alliance and NATO warships. The attack demonstrates again that the pirates are fearless and committed to the endeavor of piracy on the high seas.
