• Pirates Seize Multiple Ships in 3 Days

Somali pirates seized a cargo ship with its 24 crew members off the coast of Yemen on Monday.

The MV Iceberg I was hijacked about 10 miles outside Aden Port in the Gulf of Aden and was last reported being commandeered toward the Somali coast. Last communication from the vessel was a mayday call from the captain, informing that pirates boarded the vessel.

This was the third pirate attack since last Saturday when pirates also seized a Seychelles fishing boat, the Galate, and its 6 crew 60 miles off the island of Mahe. The other hijacked vessel, reportedly an Iranian tourist boat with 21 crew onboard, was captured but no confirmed reports were available and these vessels were reported as later being freed.
