The Korea Coast Guard has confirmed that eight crewmen are missing after a fishing boat collided with a freighter and capsized off the SW coast of South Korea on Saturday.
The fishing vessel, around 56-tons, was slammed by a 2,116-ton freighter. The ships were offshore of the port of Taean amidst thick fog, according to AFP reports.
The nine crew of the fishing boat were all sleeping, except for the skipper, according to the only rescued crew member. Coast guard officals, Go Jong-kug told AP that the missing crewmen include five Chinese sailors.
Search and rescue missions are underway from the Coast Guard for the eight remaining fishermen.
No one aboard the freighter was injured, and the freighter did not suffer any damage.
