Cannon Recovered from Blackbeard's Ship

Underwater excavators recover another cannon from the infamous pirate ship, Queen Anne’s Revenge

Excavators are learning more about the best known pirate as what’s left of his ship is brought to the surface. Over the weekend a crew off the coast of North Carolina lifted the eight foot, one ton cannon from the water.

Dozens of local resident showed up to get a glimse of the historic weapon used by pirates. 

The latest recovery is among more than 300 artifacts that will exhibit at the North Carolina Maritime Museum in Beaufort. The cannon is the 13th to be recovered from the wreckage site. Twelve additional cannons and three large anchors have yet to be brought to the surface.
