Canada Watching for Thai Ship with Possible Terrorist Onboard

The Harin Panich 19, now renamed MV Sun Sea, a suspected migrant smuggling vessel is reportedly on its way to Canada with 200 migrants on board.

Authorities are monitoring the Thai cargo ship, which was last seen in the Gulf of Thailand. The vessel is under the control of the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam. Several leaders of the separatist organization — considered a terrorist group by many countries, including Canada — are reportedly onboard the vessel.

International terrorism experts have warned that the vessel could try to deceive the countries that are monitoring its movements by frequently changing its course.

Several weeks ago, the vessel was turned away from Australia. The ship idled for some time in the Gulf of Thailand before setting sail for Canada two weeks ago.
