Air Show Returns to Fort Lauderdale Beach this Weekend

After five years the Lauderdale Air Show will return to Fort Lauderdale Beach April 28th & 29th. Organizers promise star-performers for the event, to take place along State Road A1A between Oakland Park Boulevard and the Southeast 17th Street Causeway.

Military Performers

Performers will include the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds, a team of six F-16 fighter jets, as well as the U.S. Navy Leap Frogs parachute team and the 101st Airborne Screaming Eagles. Others in the star line-up include an Army parachute team, Airforce F-15 formation flights, a Navy Reserve F-5 formation and a search and rescue demonstration from the U.S. Coast Guard.  Other military performers include: F-18 Hornet, USAF Thunderbirds and  B-1B Lancer.

Civilian Performers

Civilians will make an appearance this year with acts from, Black Diamond Jet Team, Red Bull Air Force,and the Geico Skytypers. A squadron of six World War II era Navy planes will skywrite and the 2011 world aerobatic champion, Rob Holland. Other civilian performers include: Kirby Chambliss, Mike Goulian, and Mike Wiskus.

The shows will run from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. on both Saturday and Sunday, with kick off parties taking place on Thursday and Friday nights. The show’s center will be just north of Sunrise Boulevard at A1A – this area will include food, beverages and other hospitalities. Tickets start at $29.
