Local authorities have reported that an employee has died while working on a ship moored in Galveston, Texas.

The worker fell about 30 feet to his death on Thursday morning. A Galveston police spokesman stated that the man was employed by Malin International Ship Repair and was working aboard the Western Monarch.

The man, whose identity has not been released, was reportedly working from a ladder on the cable-laying ship when he lost his balance and fell, striking his head on a beam. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The company is conducting an investigation into the death, but police do not suspect foul play.
