Maritime TV Speaks to Tony Munoz About Daily Show Segment

Published Sep 26, 2013 3:46 PM by The Maritime Executive

Dave Gardy of Maritime TV speaks with Editor-in-Chief of the Maritime Executive, Tony Munoz about his recent appearance on the Daily Show and about the political satire the show is known for.

In this interview, Tony Munoz discusses his recent appearance in Comedy Central's The Daily Show and the proposed changes to the current food aid program that would severely impact the U.S. Flag Merchant Fleet.

Munoz explains that the show’s young audience got to learn that the U.S. sends food to the hungry around the world, at the least. The segment starts with tons of bagged USAID food being offloaded from a U.S. flagged ship and you get to watch it being given to starving people.

“The only thing the youth of America gets to see on TV is U.S. warships carrying big sticks,” said Munoz. “Americans are a good and charitable people who provide about 60% of global humanitarian aid.”
