Two people were injured after a Danish ro-pax ferry smashed into a dock in Helsingborg, Sweden on Sunday night.

The 4,500-gt Mercandia IV had a hole torn in its hull during the allision. It will be sent to a shipyard for repairs, while a spare back-up ship handles its normal route.

One crewmember and one passenger were taken to hospital with minor injuries. The HH-Ferries ship was carrying 124 passengers and 19 crew at the time.

Passengers said the captain did warn them that an impact was about to happen. They recalled the scene of things falling everywhere and other passengers in chaos and sustaining injuries to local news outlets.

After the crash, the ferry was forced to sail into the harbor backwards, so passengers had to back down the car ramp to get off the ship.

The cause of the incident has not yet been identified, but inspections were being carried out on the vessel. An investigation has commenced and is ongoing.
