Dometic Marine Supplies A/C for French Navy

Dometic Marine brand Condaria will equip French Navy vessels with its customized air conditioning systems for delivery by the end of 2014.

The project includes the technical development and delivery of the large chilled water systems with four semi-hermetic compressors, each with a cooling capacity of 1,600,000 BTU/hr, for installation on each one of three military boats.

Secured by Condaria dealer and HVAC specialist Cofely Axima (Marine Department), the contract success builds on the recent strengthening of the distribution network in France as demand for the Condaria equipment continues to grow in the country.

Roberto Bonomi, Managing Director of Milan-based Condaria, said: “This project provides further confirmation of the continued growth of the Condaria brand in France and is testament to the favorable reputation of our products in many parts of Europe which has been established over many years.

“At Condaria, we pride ourselves on our ability to supply custom-made systems which are created with the customer’s specific requests and requirements in mind. We supplied the quote for the air conditioning systems to be designed for these boats for the French Navy and worked hard over several months to develop the project in accordance with the instructions of the customer.

“The resulting customized water chillers, type WM 400004 with four compressors on each chiller, are designed to suit these particular vessels. We prepared various technical documents regarding schemes, data sheets and machinery, before collaborating with the customer to define the details of the order for delivery of materials later this year.”

The WM-S/FCL units customized for the new French Navy contract demonstrate the capacity of marine air conditioning and heating experts Condaria to supply larger equipment, often for commercial markets. The chilled water equipment is constructed with stainless steel frame and plates, cupronickel condensers and semi-hermetic compressors. The modular-configured, rugged units can be designed with horizontal, vertical or built-on-site configuration and offer reduced noise and vibration.

Earlier this year, Dometic Marine restructured its distribution network in France so that Condaria now sells its equipment directly to four companies in the country, each with specific areas of responsibility to ensure the most efficient distribution of products, as well as extensive installation support and dedicated customer service.

Penguin Marine, in Antibes, and Le Cannet-based Coolmarine are responsible for selling, distributing and servicing the Condaria products, while Cofely Axima and Mar Engineering are confirmed as Condaria dealers, with specific remit to customise and install equipment for medium to big projects and offer research and development and design support.

Condaria has nearly fifty years of experience supplying both the new build and the repair and refit markets with complete, sea-worthy system solutions and has designed and supplied substantial, complex installations. It is capable of supplying systems on a turnkey basis, completed by accessories such as circulation pumps, pipes, insulation and air distribution devices.

Dometic Marine is able to meet an extensive range of customer needs and target the widest market possible by offering different premium brands - Cruisair, Marine Air and Condaria, with each brand offering a significant level of heritage and history.

For installation support, after-sales service and maintenance and repair service, Condaria and Dometic have an unmatched network of company-owned offices located in twelve strategic regions across the world which are backed in the field by a network of authorized distributors, dealers and fully-trained service engineers in over 100 countries worldwide.
