Barge Allides with Bridge in Illinois

A barge crewman was injured following an allision with a bridge; there are no details on the severity of the injury.

The barge attached to the Bobby Jones Tugboat hit Illinois’ Crescent Bridge around 10 p.m., Monday.

Nothing is left from either the barge or the tug at the scene. Crews removed all debris from the river shortly after the incident. The Rock Island, Davenport, and Arsenal Emergency Crews responded to the scene.

The cause of the allision is still unknown at this time, as well as specific details including which side of the bridge that the barge hit.
