The SPIRIT OF BRITAIN, with a price tag of £150m, has made its way from Finland where it was built, to Kent where it will become the largest ever ferry to operate between Calais and Dover.
The P&O vessel is replacing the PRIDE OF DOVER and more; measuring in at double the size. The new ship measures 213 meters (700 feet) long and weighs 49,000 tons.
The ship is the first of a pair of ferries ordered to provide service to the Dover – Calais route.
Ship builder STX in Rauma, Finland expects to deliver the sister ship in September.
