17 Turkish Sailors Saved After Ship Sinks

Tuesday, January 4, 2011

A Turkish ship carrying scrap metal and 17 crew members sank Wednesday in the Black Sea off the coast of Costanta, Romania. All 17 crew members were rescued by the Romania Coast Guard.

The MEDY left the port of Constanta Wednesday morning. Just a few hours after her departure the crew reported that the ship was listing. Not long after their call for help the ship sank. Harsh weather conditions are being blamed for the incident.
