MITAGS introduces 2 upcoming courses.

CHIEF MATE / MASTER, UNLIMITED TONNAGE, OCEANS LICENSE PREP
LICENSE ADVANCEMENT (LAP) | MARCH 29 TO APRIL 30, 2010

This license prep course is designed for mariners that have completed the 12 weeks of required STCW95 CMM training and desire assistance in preparing for their unlimited tonnage oceans exams.

The 25-day License Prep. Courses provide a complete review of both terrestrial and celestial navigation in preparation for the USCG license exam. Frequent practice exams utilize actual Coast Guard Rules of the Road questions. The theory and practice of vessel stability and trim calculations are reviewed in preparation for the USCG license exam, along with the Deck Safety and Navigation General modules of the USCG license exam.

MILITARY SEALIFT COMMAND (MSC) TRAINING COURSES

• Chemical, Biological, and Radiological Defense Training Orientation (MSC-CBRD-1)
Duration: 1-day | APRIL 2, 2010 & MAY 21, 2010

This one-day course of instruction, certified as meeting Military Sealift Command (MSC) requirements, is designed to inform personnel of the hazards that are associated with weapons of mass destruction. Students will learn how to best protect themselves and their ship from these hazards and what their own or shared responsibilities are in a Chemical, Biological, and/or Radiological (CBR) environment.

• Damage Control (MSC-DC)
Duration: 2-days | March 29 – April 1, 2010

This two-day course is composed of a classroom phase, followed by a practical application phase. The classroom sessions cover damage control investigation, communications, shoring, pipe patching, bulkhead plugging, and de-watering.
