2009 International Maritime eLearning Symposium

Symposium is next week in Easton, MD. It's not too late to sign up and attend.

Join the leaders in Maritime eLearning Training from around the world for this year's Conference. The Calhoon MEBA Engineering School will be hosting the 2009 International Maritime eLearning Symposium from July 21st through July 23rd this year at its campus in Easton MD. The conference will bring Shipping Company Executives, Maritime Regulators, Training Administrators, and Maritime Faculty from around the world to discuss and experience the latest trends and technologies in eLearning for the maritime industry.

The symposium will feature the opportunity to experience STCW-Level Online Training, learn how to Design and Implement an STCW-Approved Distance Learning System, and to develop and become a part of a Maritime Training Consortium to deliver written and practical goals based assessments.

A high-powered cast of industry heavyweights will be delivering Key Note Addresses:

• James E. Caponiti, Acting Administrator, US Maritime Administration, who will speak about "The Looming Challenges Facing Maritime Educators"

• Mayte Medina, USCG Personnel Qualification Division, and Senior Member of the US Delegation to the IMO, who will educate symposium attendees on the "Future IMO Training Requirements," and

• Jose Femenia, Head, Department of Marine Engineering, USMMA, who will speak on "The need for Online Graduate Education in Marine Engineering

• Erik Seither, Marketing Manager Maritime Industries, DNV, who will present “International Trends in Distance Learning.”

• Captain Dan Noonan, Director, Online STCW Courses, CMES, who will present "A Primer on Developing and Implementing a Port State Approved Distance Learning System"
