David Alan Opuulani Burrows, Vice President of Marketing for Transmarine Navigation, Passes Away

David Alan Opuulani Burrows: Born: Oct. 18, 1961, Passed: Away Jan. 13, 2009

David Alan Opuulani Burrows was born in Portland, Oregon. At the age of three, his parents returned to Honolulu where he attended Kamehameha Schools and the University of Hawaii. His beloved wife, Shirley Anne Coney, is also a graduate of Kamehameha Schools and the University of Hawaii.

Much of David's adult life was spent in various positions and in a number of different locations, from Honolulu to Seattle, then to Orinda and Walnut Creek, California with Transmarine Navigation Company. His last position as Vice President of Marketing was one he enjoyed immensely as it allowed him to travel worldwide, especially to the Pacific Rim countries as well as Hawaii.

David's year long journey with cancer was by supported by the immeasurable love of his dear wife and soul mate, Shirley or "Nubee" as she is fondly called, and their three precious children, Emma Kaikilani, Sophia Kalae, and Charles David Haalelea Pea-peamakawalu. The continued prayers, encouragement, support, and presence of his many friends and family members worldwide are a source of inspiration for David and his family.

David is also survived by his parents, Charles and Clara Burrows; sister, Kathryn Ann Pilialoha Molitor; nephew, Alexander Joseph Kilolani Hayes; and nieces Christine Ann Piilani Hayes and Maha-lya Jane Leihulu Baker. The warmth of David's smile and his perpetual spirit of aloha always made all those who met him feel at home.

Aloha, David, we will love you forever. A Celebration of Life took place on Saturday, January 17, at Lafayette Christian Church. A second Celebration of Life will also take place in Honolulu, Hawaii on January 24, at Kawai-ahao Church, with private in-urnment to follow.
