The Indonesia-based Waruna Group, which has subsidiaries in shipping, shipyards, and ship building, has recently signed up to Videotel Performance ManagerTM (VPM), a breakthrough solution for maritime training developed by KVH-Videotel.

Described as one of Southeast Asia’s fastest growing players in the tanker market, the Waruna Group has realized the benefits of combining the extensive range of KVH-Videotel’s award-winning training content with the power of web-based data analytics.

“Waruna Group is committed to crew training and it is a proven fact that well-trained and competent crew will contribute to safer and efficient ship operations,” says Rajasegar Raju, DGM, Tanker Operations, for Waruna Shipping, Indonesia. “Crew training and performance management solutions from KVH-Videotel are a step in the right direction in our pursuit of being a quality shipper of choice.”

VPM provides maritime managers with actionable insights about their fleets’ training activities and is designed to help increase operational efficiency, safety, and crew performance. The cloud-based software platform ensures that a crew’s latest training records are accessible from any web-enabled device, and the interactive, dynamically rendered reports and dashboards present easy-to-view data about crew performance, skill levels, strengths, weaknesses, and training schedules.

“The Asia Pacific region is an extremely important maritime market and being appointed by Waruna Group is a positive reflection about the quality of our services,” says Sundeep Sequeira, KVH-Videotel’s General Manager for Asia Pacific. “VPM gives the Waruna Group total visibility with the ability to quickly see the training status of all seafarers in their fleet.”

“Investing in crew training is never wasted as seafarers are more motivated and loyal as they appreciate the time being spent on helping them achieve their full potential and progress their careers,” adds Sequeira.
