SPECTEC PURCHASES IDEA GmbH

SpecTec announces to have purchased the totality of the shares of Idea Nautic Data Solutions GmbH of Dusseldorf, Germany, a leading IT supplier of Vessel Management Systems in the Yachting world. Idea Vessel Management Software is installed today on more than 250 Super yachts, such as: Le Grand Bleu (12th largest yacht in the world), Indian Empress (17), Alfa Nero (29), Amevi (32), Constellation (33), Haida G (36), Princess Marianna (41), Ilona (46), just to name a few. SpecTec AMOS system, installed on close to 7000 merchant vessels in the world, is also used on super yachts, including Dubai, the world’s largest yacht, Octopus, Kingdom 5KR. SpecTec has a network of 24 fully owned and managed offices worldwide, with over 220 direct employees and 80 more through its network of agents. The union between the two companies will provide an optimal synergy between strength and competence. SpecTec economic and network strengths, and Idea competence and knowledge in the Super yacht market, will give life to an optimal solution for the white boat industry. Moreover, this union will give both companies a boost in their respective sectors, as SpecTec will be able to enlarge its activities in the buoyant German merchant shipping market. Idea will maintain its office in Dusseldorf but all operational and financial activities will be merged with the SpecTec office in Hamburg. This will bring the total number of employed staff in Germany by the SpecTec Group to 16 people. Sebastian Allebrodt, founder and MD of Idea, will become MD of SpecTec Germany. SpecTec intends to pursue consolidation and growth in the IT sector in shipping, oil&gas and Defence sectors, through more acquisitions and mergers.
