Albus Golf, S.L. ( www.albusgolf.com ) is a technology-based company located in Barcelona. It is dedicated to designing, producing and marketing new and innovative products with ecological and biodegradable features, for the sports, leisure and tourism markets. ECOBIOBALL is a unique, single-use product which opens up the possibility of practising golf on cruise ships, beaches, jetties, seafront hotels and resorts, oil rigs, boats, yachts, and near reservoirs, lakes, rivers and other marine environments, always hitting the ball to the water. So far, you cannot practice golf close to offshore seaside areas the same way you would be practice in a normal driving range. Annex V of the Marpol Treaty, Published in 1988 from IMO (International Maritime Organization), be titled as “Prevention of Pollution by Garbage from Ships” prohibits the contamination of the sea through industrial waste with any kind of plastics, due to the fact, that plastics are not degradable and its harmful polluting effect. Therefore, ALBUS GOLF decided to launch the ECOBIOBALL, to supply this potential need. ECOBIOBALL is 100% safe for marine flora and fauna, is manufactured using non-contaminating materials as PVA, and is certified as a biodegradable and non-toxic product for fish and Daphnia (aquatic planktonic crustaceans) according to OCDE 301D, 203 and 202 methods, for LGAI Technological Center. Once the ECOBIOBALL has been hit into the water, its external layer biodegrades in less than 48 hours, releasing the fish food contained in its core into the surrounding water. ECOBIOBALL makes the ocean, the sea, rivers, lakes and ponds perfect driving ranges creates no pollution and brings a clear added value to marine life, allowing golfers to improve the sustainability and biodiversity of the marine environment while practicing their favorite sport. The most important markets where ECOBIOBALL is destined are cruise lines and hotels and resorts on the seafront, but it goes as well to other markets as merchant navy, military navy, companies within maritime oil or gas platforms, owners of large luxury yachts, events companies, companies organizing outdoor activities, sport marinas and others. ECOBIOBALL is for the one who wants to practice golf close to marine environments in a clean, eco-friendly and respectful way towards the Environment. ECOBIOBALL is the only and unique way to enjoy real golf in these marine environments, playing in the fresh air not cooped up in a practice room or nets cage, practising the full swing, and view and analyzing the true full trajectory of the ball. Albus Golf has been set up with the help of Barcelona Activa, and for the Research and Development process, the company has gotten private and public financing by CIDEM (now ACC1Ó) of the Generalitat de Catalunya.
