INMARSAT TYPE APPROVAL FOR SAILORĀ® 150 FLEETBROADBAND
Thursday, July 2, 2009
Inmarsat has formally presented the type approval certificate for SAILOR 150 FleetBroadband to Thrane & Thrane during the leading satcoms equipment manufacturer's Global Partner Conference, held in Copenhagen 23rd - 25th June 2009. The type approval confirms SAILOR 150 FleetBroadband's compatibility with official requirements and was received prior to the first worldwide customer shipment, which left Thrane & Thrane's Copenhagen headquarters on 29th June 2009.
SAILOR 150 FleetBroadband is the ideal solution for the next phase of Inmarsat's FleetBroadband service, which is aimed at professional single user applications such as workboats or fishing vessels, in addition to recreational boats, both power and sail. It features the smallest and lightest FleetBroadband antenna to date and offers simple user-installation so smaller vessels with a requirement for global internet and voice can enter the broadband era with a true IP solution for the first time.
"Type Approval from Inmarsat sends a clear message that SAILOR 150 FleetBroadband is more than suitable for rugged, professional applications," comments Casper Jensen, VP Maritime Business Unit, Thrane & Thrane. "With the same high quality and reliability as the highly regarded SAILOR 250 and 500 FleetBroadband solutions, SAILOR 150 FleetBroadband is built to stand up to the extreme environments that work and fishing boats often operate in."
SAILOR 150 FleetBroadband is an extremely competitive solution that offers fast, reliable internet data & voice for business, operational or recreational applications. Whether fulfilling reporting requirements, diagnosing faults or simply browsing the web whilst relaxing or passage making, SAILOR 150 FleetBroadband offers several benefits that until now have not been available in a single solution designed for smaller vessels, including:
-Competitively priced hardware and airtime
-Voice and data simultaneously
-IP connection for e-mail and internet/intranet access
-Rugged IP Handset
-Digital satellite phone service with exceptional call quality
"SAILOR 150 FleetBroadband has a massive amount of potential as it can offer true broadband internet for vessels that would not have previously been able to consider it as an option. For us, receiving Inmarsat Type Approval and making our first customer shipment is an important milestone that we are delighted to have reached during our successful and very positive partner conference," adds Jensen.
