Alfa Laval Wins SEK 230 Million Energy-Efficiency Order in Japan

Thursday, February 2, 2012

Alfa Laval – a world leader in heat transfer, centrifugal separation and fluid handling – has won an order from Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Ltd to supply Alfa Laval Aalborg Exhaust Gas Economizers to vessels built for A.P. Møller - Mærsk. The order value is approximately SEK 230 million and delivery is scheduled to start in 2012 and be finalized during 2014.

The waste heat recovery systems utilize the exhaust gases from the main engine to produce steam for the turbine which generates electrical power. The system has been developed in close cooperation with main engine and turbine suppliers for optimum performance and flexibility, and covers the electrical demand onboard the ship without operation of any of the generator sets.

“This order is interesting in many ways – it is one of our largest so far, it includes newly acquired products and involves a couple of major players in the marine industry,” says Lars Renström, President and CEO of the Alfa Laval Group. “We can also conclude that 2012 has started well, with the booking of two large orders worth approximately SEK 340 million in total already during January.”

Did you know that… Alfa Laval has been present in Japan for more than 80 years – since 1930?
