SOLASOLV Installed on World?s Largest Containership

South Shields based Solar Solve Marine has just completed another significant order from Korea, this time for a series of 5 vessels for China Shipping Container Lines which are being built by Hyundai Heavy Industries.  They are to be the world’s largest containerships, each capable of carrying a staggering 19,000 units.

The first vessel, CSCL Globe, was named at the world’s biggest shipyard, HHI’s Ulsan facility, in Mid November, with her sister vessels all scheduled to be delivered within a 3-month time scale.  They will all have a length of 400 mts, a beam of 58.6 mts, a depth of 30.5 mts and will be 186,000 dwt.  With a capacity of 19,000 teu they will be able to transport 1,000 more containers than Maersk’s Triple-E vessels, which currently hold the ‘World’s Biggest Container Carriers’ title.

Twenty seven of Solar Solve’s brand leading SOLASAFE roller sunscreens will be installed at the wheelhouse windows of all five ships as a navigation safety aid to protect personnel from the vagaries of sun and ice by reducing glare and rejecting heat and cold.  They will comply with the latest SOLAS recommendations to improve the working environment on a vessel’s navigation bridge.
