RightShips Warwick Norman Named 2014 Australian Export Hero

The Export Council of Australia (ECA) has named RightShip CEO, Warwick Norman as one of just six “Australian Export Heroes” honored in 2014.

This prestigious award acknowledges the efforts of individuals behind the companies that have achieved outstanding export results. It recognizes that Warwick has worked exceptionally hard to secure RightShip’s place on the international stage and that his personal energy, enthusiasm and professionalism has benefitted both RightShip and Australia’s international business community. 

On announcing the six recipients, Dianne Tipping, acting chair of the ECA said:

“There are many facets to developing our export culture in Australia. As well as adding to growth of our international trade, the Export Heroes have contributed to Australia’s image as a progressive member of the international business community and are role models for future generations of Australian exporters”.

RightShip is headquartered in Melbourne, Australia and Warwick Norman has been CEO since its inception in 2001. Under his stewardship, the company has become a global authority on maritime safety and environmental sustainability, helping shippers, terminals and ports, ship owners, managers and maritime finance organisations across the world minimise their maritime and environmental risk.
On learning of the award, Warwick said:

“I am honored to counted amongst the six recipients of the 2014 award and also to take my place on the roll of only 100 individuals who have been named as export heroes since the award’s creation in 1997. It is gratifying to know that I was nominated by my peers and that the judging was performed by export industry specialists and past recipients of this award.  

Although this is an individual award, it must be shared with the entire RightShip team who continue to work hard to support myself and the company in creating a safer and cleaner maritime environment.”

RightShip was awarded the 2013 Prime Minister’s Australian Exporter of the Year, and Warwick is currently ranked 71st in the prestigious Lloyd’s List ‘One Hundred Most Influential People in the Shipping Industry’. He is regularly invited speak at international maritime conferences and asked to contribute to policy formation with international legislators such as the EU, International Maritime Organisation and the US Environmental Protection Authority, as well as government representatives from foreign nations.
