ARTEMUS Transportation Solutions Shipping 101 Course

ARTEMUS Transportation Solutions, a leader in the web-based trade compliance software industry, will be holding its bi-annual Global Commerce- International Transportation & Trade (Shipping 101tm) Course November 17th through November 21st at the New York Shipping Association training facility in Port Elizabeth, NJ.The popular course is hosted by The Maritime Association of Port New York and New Jersey, a major sponsor of the program since 2007.     

The interactive course will cover the entire international shipping and transportation process and includes a hands-on shipping excursion in a live environment with a terminal tour. ARTEMUS works with major shipping companies to develop this curriculum that ensures the course provides the most comprehensive training to its attendees. Whether the employee is at entry level, transferred from a different position or simply looking to refresh his or her skill set, this course is designed to provide training that will add value and enhance performance on the job. 

As a seasoned industry expert, Anita Carty, Business Development, Field Training and Customer Support, has been teaching the course for the past three years throughout the United States and most recently obtained her Customs Broker license.

Ms. Carty has been with Artemus for three years and was with Hapag-Lloyd for 26 years, playing an integral role in coordinating the development of Hapag-Lloyd's in house computer system. Her background includes IT, process management, and customer service, in addition Carty is also a certified ISO auditor.

"With Anita's newly obtained Customs Brokers license, which is not an easy process, we entrust students with the most qualified instructor of the basics of Shipping and help them apply it in their career," said Steve Pniewski, President and CEO of Artemus. 

The course will broaden attendees' knowledge of the industry by delving into such topics as the History and Evolution of the Containerized Shipping Industry, the shipping cycle, major trade lanes, customer service/booking/rate filing/service contract negotiation, equipment control, intermodal transportation and equipment, export/import documentation and terminal/marine operations. 

For continuing education students, participants will be eligible to receive 3.2 CEU from Old Dominion University post completion of the program.  The course also carries 20 CCS/CES Credits through the National Customs House Brokers and Freight Forwarders Association. Class size is limited to 25 students.
