The Massachusetts Port Authority (Massport) today announced the Port of Boston’s container terminal is the busiest it has ever been. In 2006, total container volume at Massport’s Conley Terminal in South Boston surpassed 200,000 TEUs (an industry measurement). This year, the 100-acre facility is on pace to eclipse that mark, with 181,984 TEUs moved in the first 10 months of the year. The 600 ton capacity D/B BIG T, owned by T&T MARINE SALVAGE of Galveston, Texas, and the 700 ton capacity D/B CAPPY BISSO, owned by BISSO MARINE of Houston, Texas, were used to make a tandem lift of a 105’ sunken tugboat in Port Arthur, Texas. T&T BISSO initially responded to the sunken vessel with the GEORGE T, a salvage support barge used for the diving survey and rigging operations. Orders for MacGREGOR cranes secured at the end of November and December have a total value of close to €140 million and include shipsets of cranes for handling general cargo, dry bulk cargo, and containers In December MacGREGOR confirmed that contracts for 390 cranes with a total value of close to €140 million had been secured at the end of November and during December. EVENDALE, Ohio -- GE Marine reports that it will supply Avio, Torino, Italy, with a third GE LM2500+G4 aeroderivative gas turbine for the European Multi-Mission Frigates (FREMM) program. The engine will be the basis for the COmbined Diesel And Gas turbine (CODAG) propulsion module that will power the French Navy’s second FREMM ship.
