• Keppel bolsters shipbuilding capacity with Nantong Shipyard Keppel Offshore & Marine Limited (Keppel O&M) has officially opened its new wholly-owned subsidiary, Keppel Nantong Shipyard Co. Ltd (Keppel Nantong), in Nantong, Jiangsu province, China, today. Mr Luo Yi Min, Party Secretary of Communist Party of China (CPC) Nantong Committee, graced the occasion as the Guest-of-Honour, joined by more than 300 guests. • Crowley to Lease New Z-Drive Tugs from BayDelta VALOR is the First of Two New Harbor Tugs for Crowley This Year (SEATTLE; August 1, 2007) Crowley Maritime Corporation announced today that its marine services subsidiary has chartered the Valor, a newly built, 100-foot, Z-drive harbor tug from BayDelta Maritime, Inc., for use in the company's ship assist and tanker escort business in the Pacific Northwest. On July 26, 2007, Donjon Marine Co., Inc.’s 7200-BHP tugboat Powhatan, transported the U.S. Navy Aircraft Carrier Ex-John F. Kennedy from U.S. Naval Station Mayport located in Mayport, Florida to the Naval Station Norfolk in Norfolk, Virginia. The carrier was delivered by the Powhatan to U.S. Navy supplied assist tugs adjacent to the Naval Base in Norfolk on July 31, 2007. Washington, DC -- On July 10, a member of the American Salvage Association (ASA) was contracted, following an emergency call, to lift the Bayou Boeuf Railroad Bridge in Amelia, Louisiana, which had been struck by a tug and barge resulting in significant damage to the bridge span. Upon arrival at the site, the ASA member lifted the damaged 200-ton bridge span and placed it onto a deck barge. LEADING salvage and towage company Multraship is working with Belgian dredging specialist Dredging International to dredge a channel to the new terminal being engineered at the strategic Bulgarian port of Bourgas in order to enable panamax-size vessels to operate there, without the need to lighter outside the port area. Multraship recently undertook two harbour towage projects, involving the positioning of two cranes, bringing to eight the total number of such projects carried out in Bourgas. Keppel Singmarine Pte Ltd (Keppel Singmarine), the wholly-owned subsidiary of Keppel Offshore & Marine Ltd (Keppel O&M), has secured four contracts worth a total of S$350 million (US$230 million) to build six offshore support vessels (OSV) and a derrick pipelay vessel. Delivery dates for these vessels are expected between the second half of 2009 and the first half of 2010.
