Laborde Increases Sales with Mitsubishi Tier 3 Engines

Meeting the needs of its customers who demand mechanical engines, Laborde Products continues to gain market share with its Mitsubishi Tier 3 engines.  The company has already started taking orders for new construction pushboats to be constructed in late 2012 and 2013, without any signs of slowing down.

"We're not surprised by how receptive the commercial marine market has been to these new engines.  We listened to our customers, who clearly told us they wanted fully mechanical, Tier 3 engines and that's what we've provided," said Doug Oehrlein, Laborde Products COO.

Mitsubishi's heavy-duty marine propulsion engines are fully mechanical and EPA Tier 3 compliant without the use of complex electronics or any after-treatment.  There are three models available, the 24.5-liter, S6R-Y3MPTAW rated 630 hp at 1,600 rpm, the S12R-Y3MPAW a 49-liter engine rated 1,260 hp at 1,600 rpm, and the 65-liter S16R-Y3MPTAW rated 1,675 hp at 1,600 rpm.  Soon to follow is the 18.6-liter S6A3-Y3MPTAW rated 483 hp at 1,840 rpm.

Laborde is the largest Mitsubishi Marine distributor in North America with a far-reaching territory from Texas to Florida and New Orleans to Minneapolis.  Excellent for heavy-duty tug and push boat applications, Mitsubishi engines typically offer significantly larger displacement and more mass than the competitors' engines.
