Four oil and gas workers have been released after being kidnapped by armed “pirates” off Nigeria’s coast in the Niger Delta region on August 4th.

Sea Trucks Group – an oil services firm – confirmed that their foreign crew was in good health. It is unclear whether a ransom was paid at this point. Upon their release, the men were medically treated and are in a safe place.

No details on how the men were released have been provided. While kidnappings in the area routinely involve violence, most hostages are released a few weeks later unharmed after their employers pay a ransom, reports the Washington Post.

At the time of the attack, the Nigerian Navy confirmed that the gunmen opened fire on the sailors, killing two and wounding two others.

The last major kidnapping of foreigners in the delta happened in November, when assailants attacked a ship supplying a Chevron Corp. offshore oil field, kidnapping three workers who were later released in December.
