Siemens Tiastar Motor Control Centers Receive ABS Type Approved Product Certification
The tiastar line of motor control centers (MCC) from Siemens Industry, Inc., has received American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) product type approval certification.
ABS, a leading provider of maritime classification services, has certified the tiastar MCC with Design and Product Type Approved designations for power distribution, control, and motor and non-motor load protection for ABS classed vessels, offshore rigs, platforms and marine applications.
“The certifications confirm that our tiastar MCCs meet the highest international, industry and maritime standards,” says Anthony Propes, MCC marketing manager. “Siemens is a worldwide leader in automation, control equipment, motors and variable frequency drives and we will continue to strive for the unmatched levels of safety, reliability and efficiency.”
The tiastar MCC line includes options such as the first ANSI/IEEE C37.20.7 compliant Arc Resistant Motor Control Center with testing witnessed by Underwriters Laboratory (UL) and SmartStart, featuring plug-and-play functionality, which reduces commissioning time with pre-programmed and pre-configured data. Additionally, High Density designs meeting UL and NEMA standards reduce unit size for NEMA Size 1 through NEMA Size 4 starters, providing up to a 10 percent weight reduction and a 25 percent smaller footprint.
