HOSTAR Hydraulic Trailers to Transport Navy Vessels

Published Sep 30, 2014 1:26 PM by The Maritime Executive

Designed for the US Navy, SAFE Boats International's Riverine Command Boats (RCB) are capable of sea, air and land transportability. This one-of-a-kind, multi-mission vessel requires stable over-the-road passage, which is why the US-based boatbuilder chose two HOSTAR SBI-RCB-4500MT hydraulic road trailers to move the RCBs on land.

Designed specifically to handle SAFE Boats' RCB, the HOSTAR SBI-RCB-4500MT hydraulic road trailer is over 58' in length, approximately 11', 5-1/4" wide and weighs 18,750 lbs. This trailer/craft combination is designed to meet MIL-HDBK-1791 for C-5 and C-17 air transport. HOSTAR will also provide training support to the future owners.

To minimize corrosion, this hydraulic trailer employs marine-grade components. All fasteners are 316 stainless steel, with self-locking nuts. It has two rear hydraulic arms with pads and two forward extendable hydraulic arms with pads for stable launching and retrieval. A keyless remote with pendant controls the five hydraulic and two air functions. A nonskid surface helps ensure users have sturdy footing.

The RCB is a fully enclosed platform designed to conduct command and control, tactical mobility and fire support operations in hostile riverine and near-shore environments. The RCB is powered by twin diesel engines with water jets. It's equipped with key features that include an insertion and extraction bow door, reconfigurable mission space, manned/unmanned weapon mounts, an elective chemical weapons air filtration system, and optional armor.
